Hi all,

I found a nice 14" SANYO CPP-3033 portable television at the dump today, but the faceplate on the CRT is scratched up a fair bit. The CRT used is a SANYO 370JMB22.

The most suitable replacement I have at hand is a SHARP Blackstripe 370KRB22(PRY) CRT.

Am I able to swap out the damaged Sanyo CRT for the Sharp one? They have the same amount of pins on them, but I don't know the differences technical-wise, and I don't know if the layout of the pins is the same.

If not, is there any way to remove, or at least 'disguise' the scratches?

Thanks,

Chris

A glazier with portable equipment to polish glass may be able to help but it would need to be done very carefully, remembering the pressure the glass is under. If there's more than three or four scratches though I doubt if it is worth the time and sourcing a replacement screen may be the better option.

Thanks Brad. There were a heap of scratched in a small area (it had possibly been placed or stored face-down on concrete or something?), which were of decent size too.

I decided to take a change and replace the CRT. I had to break the focus/convergence rings on the old tube to remove the yoke, but used the existing rings from the new tube. It works perfectly now, and I've just finished adjusting the colour, focus and convergence.

Does anyone know where I can find some antennae for this? The antennae on this set have been snapped off at the base, and I don't have any donor sets.

Chris

I decided to use a pair of old rabbit-ear antennae as donors for this set, so it is now completely restored!
