G'day Fuad,

Welcome to the forums.

Could you please e-mail me a photo of the plug you require. All our single-phase plugs have either two or three pins here. You can grab my e-mail address by clicking on my username.

If you can get a photo to me I can post it with your comment so other members can help if they are able to.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

I've never heard of a 5-pin mains plug. I'm interested in seeing a photo.

If the set has a 5-pin socket, I'm wondering if it's a small portable TV capable of being powered by AC mains and 12 volts DC?

If that's the case then I'm thinking that perhaps the 3 top pins are for AC and ground, and the lower 2 pins are for DC.

I've seen a similar arrangements on audio cassette-radio sets in the 1970s where two separate cables are required: one for AC the other DC and each is wired to the appropriate pins in the set's power socket.

The idea is not new. That plug could very well be for AC & DC. I have a circa 1938 VCT Valve & circuit tester, it has a five pin valve type sockets & plug that connects to either earthed mains or 6V DC.

That set sounds like an AC/DC set. I have a PHILIPS KA-910 from the 1970's/80's, which uses a five-pin adapter plug on it (for two cables - Mains ~240 and 12VDC). These seem to be harder to find then the set itself...

It still may be a good idea for the image to appear on the forum.

It is not unusual for sets to be badge engineered and several may have the same plug, or some repairer, or wholesaler, etc. may have one in "dead stock".

On that I did see a good idea with the purveyors of MF Tractors. They had an inventory of "dead stock" parts for the older tractors like my 1951 TE20-D and where it was.

Very handy when the rarer 6V regulator decided to self destruct.
