There is a 90E/C81 AWA Duoforte Radiogram from 1931. Its original valve line up is as follows: 24A X 4, 27, 45 X 2 & 80. Scanning the AWA receiver list from 1925 to 1938 doesn't show up any receivers with the valve line-up you list. I'm guessing your radio is indeed a 90E/C31 and has been modified.
The name Ray Kelly is interesting. Ray Kelly (RIP) was one of the founding members of the Historical Radio Society of Australia.
Cheers.

Yes, I did a double take when I read the name myself.
Welcome aboard Ray.
Having looked around, I'm inclined to agree with Monochrome625's suggestion.

The 90e circuit shows a phase splitter tx feeding the 2 45s in push pull with an output tx ,i can see no evidence of any txs that could have been on the chassie my 2 45s are in parallel.

Ray, if you'd like an avatar to be displayed, just e-mail it to me and I will do the rest. It needs to be an 80 x 80 pixel image in any of the common formats.

Something sounding odd here? I wonder if it is a phase splitter if the two valves are parallel?
Are you sure that speaker transformer, on the speaker is not a push pull? Several manufacturers had the PP out put transformer on the speaker.
