I have been left a valve radio,it appears to be a little niper?it appears to work but the reception is low but it does work really well when I hold onto the white that comes out of the rear with a black wire beside it.Is this a problem that can be easily fixed by myself or are there people in vic that can have a look. Thanks any body.

You mean HMV Little Nipper? Just extend that white wire by a couple of meters, it's the aerial, and older radios need an external one.
