HI Guys,
I have just picked up my latest project buy off of ebay. A Kriesler 11-81. It was advertised as not working so I knew I would have to do some work. I powered it up and found that the 6N8 heater is not coming on. I understand that this Valve is not very common and was wondering if anyone has one or knows of where I may be able to buy one?
Thanks for your help
Kind Regards
Paddy

Paddy, double posting is not considered good forum practice. I've replied in your other post.

Thank you for your reply, I certainly did not mean to cause any offence by double posting.

Gtc what happened to that thread on the club we were talking about ???? --all appears hard to find ?

Thinking of doing a story on radio and various things to do with collecting with my mate here,we will put it to U-TUBE.

Because really - radio look,,, ive never seen an Industry of old time gear thats kept ------------totally in the cupboard, you got to wonder why huh ?

So I think we may get to work on that ! we certainly have the gear & cameras to do it hmm - cost us nothing ! yeah why not eh !

Just seems to be an industry that no matter what you do! you just can't seem to get the info & the answers and the needs, under every-bodies noses, all at once!!

You keep meeting people that are frustrated they can't get what they need because for some reason}} nobody will tell them ???

One chap said to me recently, I think ive just been welcomed to the C.I.A lol !

Communications Industry be it old or new - should be about any of them being able to communicate there needs or queries to anybody ---------day or night eh! but to rely on Auction sites / web sites / clubs letters nup!!

( it obviously don't work )

It all amounts to nothing now - I don't know why? but even with those 3 Irons in the fire!! -----------they obviously don't work !

G'day Steve,

If it was the Radio Fest thread you are looking for, it's here. I updated it last night.

On the other subject of things 'missing', I think it is a shame that there are not enough photos and films of the Australian radio industry hard at work. Sydney alone had dozens of factories churning out radios and there doesn't seem to be any material relating to these.

The original AWA factory in Darlington (pretty much next to Victoria Park just off Broadway) is now a block of flats.

The AWA Radio-Electric Works at Ashfield was bulldozed years ago and blocks of flats were built there.

The HMV factory near the 'Arnott's Bridge' at Homebush is now a self storage complex.

The Kent Telephone Exchange now sits where AWA's original head office was.

That's just a taste of the then and nows we all should know about. For every factory there was a head office and twenty radio shops. Mick Simmons has been selling sports equipment for as long as I've been alive but they started out selling radios and parts. Lawrence and Hanson are an electrical parts wholesaler but they also started out selling radios and radio parts.

I started out a few years ago on a research agenda walking around with the camera and notepad but I didn't get a chance to finish. Maybe I should get off my bum and finish that job. Only thing is, it was only to cover Sydney. I don't have the opportunity to cover other capital cities at the moment. One thing I did find scary - the sheer number of buildings that were once radio factories. Airzone, STC, Breville, Philips, etc. All are either converted to flats, empty and decaying or bulldozed to make way for modern developments.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

Prefer that you finished the promised site mods first! Wink

Good news on that front. Whilst it can't be seen by members or guests at the moment, the function to list threads in most recently updated is currently being tested on Forum 1. If all goes well it should go live across the site in a week or so. Grin

As for the research work, that will take months to put together. It's scary to see how long that sort of thing takes.

Brad some years ago I seen that the original Raycophone factory was still standing in Annandale albeit empty, it was still there in 1995 - I don't know if its still the same today!

Stc and Stromberg Carlson factories appear to be gone ! hm ! they turned others into blocks of flats - hell how tacky, they filled our heritage workplaces up with y generation yuppies ! how rude - talk about a wet fish in the face for History !

The factories should have been kept like ''idols frozen in time ''Well it could have even benefited the y generation to a point, where they could go and view ''what a days hard slog was '' - not that many of them would have any concept of it eh lol lol !

I often wondered what happened to the Efco factory in Arncliffe ? I suppose the dizzy yuppies probably turned it into an Internet cafe ???

Its like the old Sydney pubs, there was always some do - gooder trying to knock yet another one down - you got to wonder why ? idiots put money before History? no not on ) forbidden fruit all that old History should be ''sacred cow '' status - not for sale / it lives forever !

Progress they say ))) - what a lot of crap eh !

Hi Paddy.
Did you check the 6N8 filament for resistance on the pins of the valve, the sockets on those radios can be a problem. If you can not get a 6N8 I probably have one here.
Regards John.

I have a 1937 copy buried somewhere in a box from house shifting.
