I have an old Air Chief, I was wondering where is the best place for info on these?

The only model number I can find is

JL 5834.

The Rola Speaker dates 26 September 1947

Any info is appreciated!

Thanks

JL is listed as circa 1949 in AORSM's

"Airchief " is NASCO ... General Motors

It should also appear in the workshop manual of whichever Holden or Vauxhall that it was fitted to.

List:-- 6 or 12V (more likely 6V) the voltage on the vibrator & valves as there are a couple of circuits.

Marc is on the ball! The JL is a 6 volt model, the JM was the 12V version and had an identical circuit with a different power supply and different filament wiring.

NASCO, (National Automotive Service Co.) disbributed these radios which were designed and built by EIL (Astor).

There were many modifications made to these models over the years. I'll email them to you shortly.

Cheers, Graham...

Airchief also appears in Rider as a US GMH I think?

Do check it against the circuit. I recently had one where the fidlers had been in it.

I guessed that one. I did tell the owner that one problem was likely a dry joint & the other the padder cap going short. Correct.

I posted on another non car Kriesler 6V set on this forum.

Same deal. the padder high attrition rate; usually around 0.47μF Non Polarised use 2KV cap & dont use low voltage caps around the vibrator use the same 630V ones as you will iuse to replace the NP's in the rest of it.
