This lovely old set has come into my hands. It stands about 1130mm tall and weighs about 10 tonnes - feels like it to this no longer a youngster anyway. The cabinet is exquisite and I really must post a pic. My brief is to get it up and running.
Does any member have info about it such as circuitry and year of manufacture etc etc.
Cheers Allan

You may strike it lucky here, but if not you could try the NZ Vintage Radio Society which has a circuit supply service:

The only place I could find it listed is at..
http://www.premiumorange.com/chcr/images/schemas/lettre_b.htm

Looks like you need to be a member to access the schematic list however, how's your french!

Better still, here it is in English and if you have PayPal you can download the circuit schematic for US$6.95 ...

http://www.antiqueradioschematics.org/schematics-brunswick.htm.

Note that it has two entries:

RPA-5 for P-3
RPA-5A PANATROPE

I don't know what the P-3 is, but if you "Google Images" for Brunswick panatrope you'll find numerous pictures.

Note also the manufacturing date ranges:

Brunswick Radio Corp. (Panatrope) 1930 - 1936
Brunswick Division - Mersman Bros. 1938

Thanks for all that useful info. I have acquired some circuitry but I am missing the RF section which sports a 4 gang tuning capacitor and 4 identical coil cans. It must be a TRF with 4 stages There are 2 dates on the circuits I now have. One says 3/12/28 and on another sheet it says revised 3-10-26

If you email Brad some photos, especially of the chassis, he'll link them for you.

Also, given that Brunswick seems to have been more popular in NZ than Oz, have you canvassed the NZVRS?

At Antique Radio Forums there is shown a Brunswick Pantatrope Balke Collender Co. with radio S31. This cabinet is exactly the same as mine but with a different radio, a superhet. My radio is a P.3 version.

Anyone know about Barretter regulators? This Brunswick which runs from 115volts from a 230volt stepdown transformer, has a barretter in series with the 115volt primary. A list of American barretters shows voltage drops
at 117.5volts of around 40 volts which really confuses me.
In my case I measure 70volts across the barretter and 34volts at the primary of the transformer with all of the secondary disconnected.I know the transformer is faulty, probably shorted turns but the condition of the barretter and how it should appear normally has me mystified. Some help would be very welcome.

I have got a power transformer, used but the exact replacement from Play Things of Past in the USA. The radio is now producing sound but speaker cone is a bit sad - may need reconing at some expense.

Well done on finding an exact replacement. I had never heard of Play Things of the Past.

I hope you can find a re-coning service.

The gramophone with this Panatrope has a 1928 induction disc 115 volt ac motor made by GE or Victor. Long shot I know but does anyone have one of these in reasonable condition they would part with. Also any info
would be welcomed
