There are some Philips model numbers on radiomuseum.org containing 306, but none just 306.

Unfortunately just 2 of them have circuit schematics, but there are photos of each.

What are the valves in your set?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply , the valve line up is EF41,ECH41,EAF41,EAF41,EL41,AZ41. The paper label on the rear of the chassis with the layout diagram has "VK-772.80" printed on it.

The only radios I can find with that set of tubes on radiomeuseum.org are all European brands. Some are pictured and one has a circuit (but you have to be a paid-up member to see the circuit -- I’m not a member).

http://www.radiomuseum.org/act_main.cfm

In his book, “The Golden Age of Radio in the Home”, New Zealand author John W Stokes says:

“Following the introduction of import restrictions in 1938 some firms took advantage of the lower rate of duty applicable to the importing of receivers in chassis form for fitting into New Zealand-made cabinets. Owing to their peculiar type of construction, Philips receivers did not lend themselves to this procedure, though at least two models, the 361 and 362, were fitted into locally made console cabinets.”

Pictured are 361A and 362, although they are not dated. Each is a rectangular box with two knobs, and the dials jut out of the tops of the boxes at an upward facing angle.

So, it may be that you have one of those hybrid NZ sets, as described. However, blowed if I can find it mentioned anywhere, including the HRSA files.

The VK-772.80 doesn't 't ring any particular bells with me.

Maybe your best bet is to try the NZ Vintage Radio Society, whose founder was the late John W Stokes:

Thanks for suggesting the NZVRS they were great and emailed me the circuit almost immediately. The set was apparently made in the Philips Wellington factory.

Glad to be able to help. Smile

Now that we can see the pics, that's a pretty good looking set (and not similar to the 361 or 362 as it happens). The chassis appears to be in very good condition.

I've never seen a speaker covered like that, but then my exposure to sets is pretty limited. Interesting to note the facility for an extension speaker, too.

It's a candidate for registering with radiomuseum.org.
