The Tone pot on my Kriesler 11-81A Radio contains the power switch. This is now getting worn out and hard to turn off. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement? I'm guessing there may be no current replacement produced. The switch is a a mains switch, so needs to be rated for 240V 10A. The pot is 25K. Maybe someone has some vintage parts out there that could be used? Thanks in advance.

If the original power cord had just two wires, the switch would probably be two pole, with both active and neutarl switched. If you fit a three wire power cord so that the chassis can be earthed (a good idea), then you can then get away with a single pole switch on the active line.

These things sometimes come up on ebay but your best bet is that someone will have one here, or pick up a radio good only for parts eg smashed cabinet or other major parts like transformer failed.

Back in the day we used to stock "switch backs" for IRC and Ducon pots in the TV service vans.

You could swap out the bad switch on the original pot.

What brand of pot is it? If IRC, it could be the small or the large style.

You could repair the IRC switches, usually all that was wrong was the toggle was bent.

The Ducon ones were zinc diecast and a piece of the toggle would snap off, not repairable.

Thanks for your replies. I'll have to get the radio apart and have a look at the type of pot. With any luck I could repair it, as Ian suggested.

Why 10 amps (2400 watts)? You're not switching a two-bar radiator.
