In my experience there isn't a best sounding one.

I just tune to a vacant frequency and use that.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

They just closed 1566 3NE Wangaratta Vic. If there are no stations near that frequency close to you that's available but keep the power down of course.

Its the transmitters & receiver that govern the audio quality, not the frequency.

For my in-house station, I chose a frequency which is not used across the entire country, and also has no adjacent channel interference.

The signal is very strong in the house, putting any kind of radio to the test in handling powerful signals. However, it doesn't travel too far, and fades away to nothing just a few houses away.

Just make sure you're not going to interfere with TV reception. A clean signal shouldn't cause any issues. Also, don't tell your neighbours about the station or they'll blame you for everything that happens, even if it isn't your fault.
