I recently acquired a Kriesler 11-75 Silver Anniversary portable radio-gram that is is not working. It appears to be a very similar to a model 11-60 radio. The problem is as follows : it powers up with dial lights showing and all valves lighting up except the rectifier (a 6V4) which does not light or heat up at all. There is also a very faint hum through the speaker. But that's all I get. I have replaced the rectifier with another 6V4 from a working Kriesler 11-71 but it still has the same problem.
I'm really keen to get this unit up and running so any pointers on where to start investigations will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Previous comment made:

Summary:

Replace all paper caps & electrolytics, any dodgy wire including mains. Check resistors as you go.

Firing it up with crook electrolytics, can destroy the 6V4

Any resistor out by more than 10% in my book, gets replaced. Checking resistors "in circuit) can lead to errors, if you do not understand what it is hooked to.

Once again thanks Marc. Just been having a look over it and doesn't look too daunting. I should probably try and get the correct schematic for the unit which might save me a bit of time. If anyone out there can help with this it would be much appreciated.

Hi, Can you post your email address so I can send you a copy of the 11-75 schematic?

Cheers, Graham...
