Typical of its era every black NP cap was cracked so it never got powered, however there was cooked wire where a globe socket shorted, that is also not uncommon and another reason you look first & assess it before powering.

Now aside from tossing the power cable, I am enquiring as to someone having the instructions on how the "slumber" sets of engages?
The clock actually runs and there is no earth leakage.

Knobs are another problem.
