Hi,

does anyone know what is the best way to "fill in"
bakelite holes and cracks?
..............or if this is not regarded as
a good way of fixing bakelite,
what then is a proper way of repairs to cracked bakelite and very small missing pieces?

thanks
marc

Hello met

Silicon chip has an archived article that is comprehensive

http://www.siliconchip.com.au/cms/A_101790/article.html

There are also others available on the web.

My personal experience is limited to repairs with locktite (better than super glue). This is good for tight fitting cracks. Clean out the crack and do some dummy runs fittting it together before using the glue. Clamp overnight with elastic bands or adhesive tape if needed.
The repair was to a broken section of a Kriesler beehive. The inside surface can be reinforced with glass fibre tape glued on with locktite.
