Fred: Found the article it actually covers both the grid repair and the Metallisation. emailed as pdf

The set with ECH35 was run for 5 Hours on a November day last year, in a dusty cattle shed.: On return home it got the dust blown out of it & put back on the rack.

Thanks guys, Jaycar had a product as well like "liquid PCB track" stuff, I've got some ...in a box.....somewhere.
I'll try a few of the suggestions next time around i'm using one of the Philips valves in something.
