Good morning all, just wondering if any one has any information on the coloured liquid used on soldered joints in some radios. Bowler

To show that it has been inspected? Or not interfered with in the warranty period?

I still do that with a Texta, or paint marker: Same theory shows that I actually checked that joint. A small dab in a place on a cap where it will not get mixed up with a colour code, says "I tested it"

Done by line inspectors. Colour indicates which inspector.

I have still found bad joints that have been marked as OK!

IIRC, the lacquers (or one of them) used back in the day was not conducive to good health.

Probably a Friday rush order just before a long weekend: Albeit Monday was also a problem.
