RE-POST
I posted this in the wanted section but got no response. I thought that I might try it here as I noticed there is much more traffic in this section
Posted at 1:10:43 PM on 27 January 2010.
Some 12 months ago I posted a request for an Admiral schematic
"Hello. Does anyone hav a schematic for an old (1950's) Admiral battery & electric portable radio with with the listed valves? I have just obtained one and would like to see it it can be restored to it's former glory. No model number shown on the unit."
and a member 'Rudy' from Queensland replied:-
"Reg, I have just obtained a number of Admiral circuits. Are you still looking ? Rudy"
I appologise to Rudy for not following up. Unfortunately my personal circumstanses were such that I was 'off line' for an extended period and was unable to reply.
If Rudy or anyone has an Admiral schematic for portable listed above (1T4, 1R5, 1U4, 1U5 and 3V4 valve linup). It has no model number on it.
As well I have an Admiral Mantle radio that has no model number on it either. THe valve linup is 6BE6 (Mix/Osc), 6BA6 (IF), 6AV6 (IF/DET), 6AQ5 (Audio/Out) and 6X4 Rectifier.
I my collection I also have an Admiral 8K2 portable transistor radio with the pop-up Rotoscope aerial.
If anyone has any schematics, I would love to get copies to help with the servicing and to archive with the radios when they are restored.

Has that got a clip on antenna on the back and a transformer in it ?
Battery / AC? I fixed one like that some time ago ...probably without circuit, but it may appear in AORSM's.
The valve line up in the other one is pretty common. If you rip out all of the old paper caps & electrolytic's and fit new ones. 9 times out of 10 they will normally run if there is nothing else wrong. Check unsoldered resistors as you go. Dodgy & illegal mains wiring should also be sorted out.
The danger with the battery ones, is some clown using the wrong filament voltage & cooking them. Check valves first as that is where the cost is.

Hello again Marcc. Thanks for the prompt response
Has that got a clip on antenna on the back
Yes
and a transformer in it ?
Yes
Battery / AC?
Yes
Should be no problem in fixing it without a schematic but I like to restore old radios and archive original schematic where possible.
Where does one get a copy of the AORSM that you mention?
Regards
Reg

Check the HRSA site & see if its listed. Otherwise it may be an American circuit? Check Nostalgia Air Recources as it may be in Rider.
I still am of the opinion I fixed the one I had, without a circuit.
