I an currently restoring a HMV D33A and am unsure of a componant it is 10/12mm square and about 4mm thick ,i think it is a capacitor it has 150 printed on it just wondering if anybody knows what I am talking about.

Just to follow on it is brown plastic I have contacted admin to upload picture to make discription a bit clearer

Thanks I was sure it was a cap but not sure on the value as I dont have the schematics

On the schematics would anybody have the schematics fot this model D33A or know where I could get them

The only 150uμF I see is C33 on the pickup circuit.

Definetely a MICA . Dont worry about changing it. They are usually ok.

OK depends on how well the solder takes? Iffy, is what I would call it: Here it would be replaced.

I'm with Marcc, I replace them every time.

In the words of Warwick Woods, AVRS President

" The failure mode only occurs when one side of the capacitor is connected to a high voltage and the other to a low potential point or ground.

As a general rule they need to be treated with suspicion and, to be on the safe side, replaced."
