See what you mean:Bit of a dodgy. I have seen worse.

Ineffective cable clamp. Even if the electrolytic was good why would you leave a paper cap on B+? Both of those caps have a very high probability of going short. Lead dress is a bit of a worry. Caps from all era's. Check the off white polyesters I have seen them crack at the ends & short.

I think there are a lot that do not understand testing of High Voltage caps used in valve radios. On a capacitor tester a wax paper cap (the most common) will often show "in spec". That is only half the story. Because of the nature of valves, these caps need to be checked for electrical "leakage" as well.

What that is saying is that Wax paper caps turn into resistors, of unpredictable value. An ordinary LV multimeter is normally useless for that test. The cap needs an insulation tester, or similar to test it at as close to its working volts as possible. A Non polarised capacitor should not pass DC: To me any that do are duds.

Well I have to say that this little radio has made itself at home on my fridge in the kitchen. It has the mellowest sound and has great volume. No sign of interference . I am really happy that I bought it.
