Thank you Marcc for that, yes the first cap Is to the transformer centre tap to get the negative back bias. When I get a new candohm I will be going over every resistor with a fine tooth comb to make sure they are all ok, as I have at the moment 255 volts HT and 150 at the screens, so definitely a bit high to do any good. Main thing is I know it works, so now I've just got to nut out where current should be flowing and isn't but until I get the new candohm fitted I have a confounding variable, and you say disconnect the caps when measuring voltages? I'll do that and then hopefully get the right voltages, I need to basically lose 50V from the HT and screens and I have a strong hunch that my calculations concerning the resistors I used are the main fault here, as I wasn't attempting a proper fix, just proving the fault, which I have done. My next task will be tapping the new candohm correctly!
