No worries. I will try and repair the knobs I have. Thanks for looking anyway.

Based on nearly sixty years of servicing. The leaving of wax paper caps and tired electrolytics is going to end badly. It is rare to find any waxed paper cap now that does not leak like a sieve and they are a ticking time bomb. Get rid of them.

O.K. I am listening. Before I power this set up again I will replace all those wax caps. It's just that this chassis is so small and crowded I think I am going to put it aside for now and practice on something with a bit more room to work in. Then I will get back to this one and hopefully do a reasonable job. But I will definitely not power it up again without replacing the caps. Thanks Marcc.

With the effluxion of time, you will realise that there are things like haemostats, are great as heatsinks, pulling out bits and navigating bits in and out of awkward places.

If you want to see difficulties servicing, some allied stuff, as opposed to German stuff: I am convinced, due to mass production, was not well designed and as result was made to be blown up rather than fixed up.

I am torn between moving on to something with a little more room or doing the right thing and finishing this one properly first. I think the radios will benefit me getting a bit more practice and maybe a new tool or two (like a haemostat etc.) before finishing this one. With that in mind I am now working on the Kriesler 11-20 plum pudding radio. As expected by now. It is not going well. I will start a new thread in here outlining some problems I have already run in to.
