The replacement, having had recent experience with one, will show you how to connect it. Rest assured that if you get the phasing wrong, it will tell you.

Thanks Marc
I wasn't sure but followed the previous hook up by looking carefully (as best I could) to identify start and finish of the primary and secondary and there placement.
Its a 50 50 chance but seems I hit it right as no oscillations(at lest in the audible range) and no distortions or weakness in power, So I think I got it right but as you say
"it will tell you"
There are some real differences between these nippers I have but the feedback points appear to be to be the same hook up, done differently component wise (or lack of) but same objective I guess
Again Thank you

Those things tended to evolve & kept the same IF frequency & valves for quite a while. Later ones changes to ferrite antennas, some goose in accounting was probably guilty of the screen resistor ending up as 10K 1 watt in many & seeing that the current was more than 10mA: They were a problem.
I have a green one of those (no ferrite antenna) & various bits that have arrived here, very common set, lost count on how many I have re-furbished? I think the last one was red & came from Shepparton.
For some reason they changed to an audio OP transformer cover in pitch, which brought there failure rate up to comparable with Kriesler, of which some had OP transformers where about two in eight might be good. I always check the OP transformer in a Kriesler first.

Hi Marc
Yes the 2 I have one is green and a true 62 52 according to the schematic ..no ferrite antenna, the other is Burgundy
The green's transformer was a stuffed Pitch covered Job and the Burgandy (my other thread) does have the ferrite antenna and seems to more akin to a 65 then a 64 (marked as 64) that transformer was clear of pitch and did work. So that at lest was Happy Days
The pitch ones, no idea but Id suppose bean counters and costs more likely as you said in regard to the resistors probably got them for a good price (unless shortages but Id have thought the 50's these would have been a thing of the past, possible but not as likely as the war years)
Thanks to your Tips on the output trannies its now the first thing I test after a visual inspection to see just what shape a radios in (and whether its been attacked, and always hoping not) next is the power transformer, that takes a little more time so I clear one possible headache first
As you have said transformers are really going to dictate if its worth it or not unless its a truly collectable
The burgundy one seems to be working well but I put it aside to finish the green one to a working state ( I am hoping that un-soldered joint on the Turning Cap was the culprit but the jury's still out there)
The IF frequency is a bit of an odd ball one thought 457K5 Hz (457.5 kHz) according to the Docs
(yet to do the alignments on both, got to find my frequency counter and clear down the bench)
I know in the early years you were liable to find some real odd ones but thought by the 50's 455kHz would have become the norm but patents were a funny things in those days and maybe it was a way round someone else's patent and not having to pay royalties but thats a bit of a long reach I guess and I do realise there were probably more so technical reasons why that IF was chosen too.
I know these arn't your cream bakelites but I kinda like them, I think there colours said Happy and after the depressing 40's I guess the world needed some Happy in it...could defiantly need a good dose now actually ...the world I mean
Thanks Marc for all your help, I am learning...and appreciate the input
Cheers

HMV loved pitching their transformers. Sometimes they put it on so thick that after a few decades it would crack in several places leaving the transformer looking like the cracks in a cricket pitch.
DJ (and everyone): Please be mindful of how you edit your posts. This should generally be limited to correcting spelling and the like. If you are adding information it is best just to start a new post. A lot of what is being changed in posts is getting missed.

Yes I stand very "Guilty" of that I must admit..I just did it then corrections and added an after thought
Sorry, I will leave them alone and just add any corrections comment wise or further information & thoughts as a separate post
I know this ones extremely bad on that due to the Boo Boo's I made and me trying to correct information just in case people got the wrong info from it
That was me thinking of the casual reader that might stumble on this in months years to come type thing. but true for those following the thread they wont see it as they will assume they read it
On the Transformer, you painted a perfect picture of this one to be sure
I was going to send a picture for this thread of both it and the 6X4 rectifier but decided you probably had enough on your plate this week with the server issues.
I so hope something comes to light on that score mate.
Cheers and thanks Brad.

It's okay to keep sending in photos. It's business as per usual.
Keep them high-res because I will still size them to suit the AWOL wide site.
