Well I guess that's ok for what I have in mind. Quiet room with the voice arriving alongside a little of the same static the command was recorded with.
Some of the free libraries including the one I mentioned sample background noise for a few seconds at launch time to try filtering it at run time. This consumes yet more CPU guts of course.
The Talkman voice picking units used in warehouses also do this. They say "Please keep quiet for a few seconds".
I was trying to get a broken one in my previous job to find out what chips they use, but no success getting the unit.
