Hi all, for fathers day I received a bag with 1 x Micromite LCD backpack kit and 1 x DDS function generator module and was told to get into the 20th century!!
So I have assembled the kit and as usual did a little article about it and can report that despite it not having any valves in it, it works just like the magazine says!

Cheers Fred.

Where can I get one? I'm in the USA, so presumably I can order it over the 'net.

Hi Wa2ise
Silicon Chip magazine has a general email "silicon.siliconchip.com.au" .
That point of contact may be the best way to find out if they have the thing and how to get it.
I was just handed the thing in a plastic bag and told to get on with it so never actually bought it!
Fred.

The software-loaded chip is on their webshop:

QUOTE: A 32-bit PIC microcontroller in 28-pin DIP programmed for the Radio IF Alignment with DDS project. This includes the Micromite software v5.03 as well as the TFT LCD configuration, with the IF Alignment BASIC program pre-loaded.

The easiest way to build this device is to purchase two kits, both available from the Silicon Chip online shop (www.siliconchip.com.au/shop

1. The Micromite LCD BackPack kit programmed for DDS IF Alignment, catalogue # SC4021
2. DDS Function generator catalogue # SC4205

plus a handful of miscellaneous readily available bits and pieces

The Silicon Chip magazine article describing this device was September 2017, you can order a scan of the original article from there as well
(article title was Dead-easy-Superhet IF Alignment using Direct Digital Synthesis)

Joe

PS. This project grew out of an earlier project for a DDS Signal Generator - April 2017, also interesting
