Here is an exercise in cabinet styling where I used an unknown 5 valve chassis bought from ebay fixed it and made up a black Empire State style cabinet to house it.
I wonder if anybody knows who made the chassis?

Looks good. I have a few old Gram Chassis that I may consider doing something the same to. They are picked up at HSRA auctions for almost nothing. I started getting a few for just the parts alone.

I decided to try my hand at doing a full metal restore of a Philips set that was originally passed in at auction for next to nothing. See Here: http://vintage-radio.com.au/default.asp?f=1&th=853.

Great work on the cabinet!

I am guessing that this was originally a Reliance Skyraider Chassis as the size of the dial is exactly the size of the dial in mine.My older Sky-Raider chassis has philips valves fitted as original. And the shape of the globe retainers either side of the dial are exactly the same. As for there being no maker on the Dial , That one looks like it has been reprinted as it just does not look right. If so and you may want a good copy of what it should look like then you may ask Michael Raanan as he remade mine in exacting reproduction. If you wish to see what it looks like then you should look at my discussion in general discussions entitled Reliance Sky-Raider 1930s to 40s ( its actually a 46 model but I did not know that at the time ). Just my observations.
