G'day Fred,
I didn't realise you weren't well. All the best with your treatment.

Thanks Brad and Guys, just back home from Westmead Hospital, had a T.O.E. procedure (google it) on my heart.
Very effective and I wish I could have spent more time looking over the lab and equipment.
Unfortunately as a patient you are nailed to a bed on wheels and not supposed to examine all the equipment and ask 50 questions!
I'll be resting for a while before being let loose back in the workshop.
Fred.

Good to hear. And given the money we have to fork out to medicos, they should answer 100 questions, with a smile.

Hi Fred
What did they find with the T.O.E.?
Or as my GP says, was it just to "rule out anything sinister"?
A guy who worked at out place 20 years back had open heart surgery that was life changing for him, took him from a wheelchair to playing competition squash! Absolutely amazing.
Best wishes fro your recovery mate.

Hi Ian, basically they
1/ shove a ultrasound probe down your throat and check the heart for any blood clots or loose crap that could make you stroke out and then 2/ stick two electrodes onto you, back and front of chest and apply 2.4 gigawatt of lightning...no, hang on, that's 'back to the future', applied 1 x 200J impulse to the electrodes and your heart goes into the foetal position for a blink and pulls into sync.
In my case that was all it took and the crazy atrial firing pulses making the whole heart bounce up and down like a bowl of jelly are now ignored and the primary node pulses are driving the heart with normal propagation and we are back in sine rhythm. so smooth. Once more I can move about not feeling I am jogging up a steep hill sweating while just standing still.
They then monitor you for a couple of days to see if you are gonna die and if not set you free.
It is actually a bit more complicated than that but that's the guts of it.
Chalk up one for science medicine.
Fred.
