You wouldn't have a schematic diagram for it would you?

I do have the schematic for it. Email me (see my profile page) and I'll send you a copy.

TV Collector, who owns the photos and drawings of the Astor sets in these images? I was browsing through the RadioMuseum.org pages on Astor products, and there seem to be many models missing a photograph. It might be worth uploading some there. I've just created a free account (you have to contribute), and would be happy to post any photos there.

All of the high quality black and white imagery is from the original Astor service manuals.
The poor quality ones are from a set of photocopied pages from an Astor parts book but the original book has disappeared again since the copies were taken. I would like to track down its whereabouts!
The colour pictures are from a variety of sources and I cannot claim ownership for much of it.

I have considered contributing to the RadioMuseum site but it didn't quite meet my needs for the information I wanted to get online. I'm also spread fairly thin as it is and I don't have time at the moment to upload and maintain information in yet another database.

Your welcome to make any corrections or additions there based on my information here. I'm just wary about some of the imagery, though I've noticed that RadioMuseum don't seem to be overly concerned about that from what I've seen.

I have a 1960s (1964 I think?) Astor Devon 131C 3-in-1 Hi-Fi unit, which we found at the local Tender Centre.

There's a brief video of it here:

Very Nice! I'm glad it's found a new home and a very nice set of presents!

Being a Devon, the model number will start with D. So the model number will be D31G (G for radiogram/tv combo's). Depending on whether it uses the series 4 or 5A chassis will determine the rest of the model number.

If I had waited a day before posting the 1965 models I would have had a better picture for the D31G!

Hi Andrew,

You're right - it is a D31G! Part of the model number was smeared, so I thought it was a 131G. Where would I look to find the chassis number? On the chassis I'm guessing, but any specific area?

Do you want me to send you some photos of the unit, for the post above? I can send some clear, well-lit photos from my digital camera.

Chris

I would like some photos please. If you can, also one from the back and a close-up of the chassis where it is visible through the back panel.

The chassis type will be printed in ink on the rear facing edge of the chassis. It could be anywhere on this back edge.

Thanks!

Hey Andrew,

Is this a set that you're missing from your Astor line-up? It's quite an unusual looking one.

I've spotted that same TV recently on Ebay where it was sold. Now it's on Gumtree!

This TV is a bit of a mystery. I was all excited thinking it was a "missing" model but the original sellers sent me some extra photographs which has thrown that idea in doubt.

I beginning to think it is another brand of TV that someone has fitted an Astor badge to.

I didn't think it was an Astor either.
It looks very similar to my GE/Crosley 3 in 1.

I think the Astor badge is off one their whitegoods products, like a fridge or washing machine.

Maybe if the seller would be willing to send you a photo of the rear of the set? Astor sets have distinctive cases, particularly the rear. I'm pretty sure most Astor sets would have the "It's an Astor... That's the difference" logo on the rear, as well as the small brown cover for where the CRT neck protrudes through the panel.

The original seller did send me photos of the back, that's why I didnt think it was an Astor as the chassis is different.
Looks more like a Precedent chassis and checking my photos, it looks very like some models sold by GE, Crosley and Precedent.

I'm quite sure now that it is not an Astor product.
