Well guys I went and paid a visit to a good friend today. He brought out what I thought to be a little green transistor radio. Well it turned out to be a very inticate little four valver. Well I have sent some pics feast on them when they are up.
The brand is Toptone. And it is bakelite not plastic.

Appears that it may have also been available with a power supply and lamp. I found this online:

According to Radiomuseum, Toptone was "Label of Tokyo Optical & Radio MFG Co., Ltd."
I'm sure those photos and schematic would be welcomed by Radiomuseum, if the owner agrees.

Yes the owner did mention that it had a cradle which he did not have. I am surprised that a Japanese radio had Australian stations marked on the dial.

Japan lives by its exports. That company would have made dials for as many countries as it could sell to.

The dial and NSW station markings is from a 1960's AWA/Westinghouse transistor radio - possibly a model 147P or something similar.

Making different dials & re badging is not in anyway new.
Internally there were several (mainly car) radios that were provided with different dials for different states and have a different fascia for a different car model, & manufacturer, whilst actually being electrically the same radio.

Admittedly, that dial does look like a DIY graft on, compared to the one in the link.
