I'm a member of a Yahoo group called TekScopes, mostly dedicated to Tektronix scopes but I just did a quick search on 7L13 and got 322 hits. There are also two associated manual repositories but I didn't see the manual you are after. It might be worthwhile joining.

Hi TV Collector,

Yes, I can almost recite that Section of the Manual backwards ..... Smile however, whilst these Manuals are excellent for the 'How To' they do not explain the 'Why'

Calibrated the Analyser again today and 'explored' a couple of signals .... my Signal generator modulated and an FM radio station ..... getting there.

Found an answer to my question in Post #14 ....

The Resolution Bandwidth (RBW) can be thought of as a slot being moved across the signal. As it moves, one data point is captured at each position, and recorded at the frequency where the centre of the slot is positioned. When the slot is wide, it 'sees' the signal earlier. When the slot is narrow, it almost tracks the shape of the signal. This leads to a broader, flatter representation of the signal when the slot is wide.

In reality, the RBW is an IF filter. The signal is being 'oscillated' across the IF filter, and being integrated into one data point per frequency step.
