Today I was walking down to St Leonards railway station for a trip into town when I heard two loud bangs. I was taking the usual short cut through Royal North Shore Hospital and found that someone had hit the wrong pedal and hurtled into the newsagent located on the ground floor of the main building.

A nearby van appeared to be the cause of the first bang, with the shattered remains of the newsagent window the cause of the second, louder one.

Car crash at Royal North Shore Hospital

The driver and two people inside the shop received minor injuries so it is good to hear no-one was seriously hurt.

Not the first time this has happened, people getting the brake pedal mixed up with the accelerator.

Lucky there was no serious injuries.
