Well guys I have managed to download Superman on radio Volume one would you believe from the Google Playstore. This was a freebie and I find it just so fascinating listening to two or three episodes every morning when I get home from work. I also managed to download the Orson Welles radio broadcast of HG Welles War of the worlds and various episodes of Dragnet. I play these through my Sky Raider utilising the bluetooth set up I have been dabbling with in the past couple of weeks and find it very satisfying indeed (that is untill I forget to disable the phone and some one rings me lol believe me its quite loud). Just wanting to find out what other serials are available and what you think of them. I do know of a site called Rusc which I'm thinking of joining. Any ideas Guys?.

Fourth Form at St Percy's, also known as Yes! What? still makes me laugh after listening to it since I was at school myself. In fact, the antics between the classmaster and students in this show probably went a way to encouraging me to be less attentive in class than I would have been.

The three volumes that exist, distributed on the Columbia label, are very hard to get though. Amazon may have some copies but apart from that it is likely that only used copies are available.

Update: Grace Gibson Radio has a larger collection of episodes available.

Here is a link to the classic South African radio serial, Squad Cars.

http://www.oldtimeradiodownloads.com/crime/squad-cars

Mainly from the late 1960's & early 70's, Squad Cars is a gritty Police drama serial with stories often set around the inner Johannesburg suburbs such as Hillbrow, Berea, Yeoville, etc. Any one who has been or lived there would be familiar with the streets, places and landmarks often mentioned in the series. It is also a reminder, for better or for worse, of a Johannesburg that no longer exists - only in memories. There is a couple of episodes here that would be of interest to us:

Radio serials lingered a lot longer in South Africa as regular television broadcasting there didn't commence until 1976.
