I wanted to thank your community for the resources you have put online!
I have been doing research for the Tamworth Powerstation Museum catalogue and new website. The information I was able to find through your passionate collectors allowed me to identify and accurately date most of the museum's older radios!

I hope it won't be considered advertising to share our website with you http://tamworthpowerstationmuseum.com.au/entertainment/

There is also more specific info in our online catalogue: http://www.mosaicweb.com.au/Collection/tamworth-powerstation-museum/vw-Help.aspx

There is only a tiny part of the collection online at the moment. I hope that if any of you are travelling through Tamworth that you visit the museum.

Thanks!
Miranda

I remember visiting the museum back shortly after it opened for business. The two replicas of the original steam generators for the lighting on Peel Street is probably the flagship item. I think it was Electronics Australia that ran a story on how the museum managed to acquire and restore the existing engines, which involved staff from the former Peel-Cunningham County Council.

I also remember seeing the Tasma 'Baby' radio and that was one of the things that got me into collecting.

Greetings to all in the City of Light.

Thanks Brad! Hope you will visit again and Carl makes it to the Museum.

It is only open from Wed-Sat 9-1. But if you contact us in advance we can usually organise an appointment with a volunteer to take you around at other times.

The Steam Engines will running again during the Country Music Festival in mid January.

Interesting. I've driven through Tamworth a few times, but didn't know of the existence of the Museum. If I'd known I would have paid a visit.

Well I managed to make it to the museum last wednesday and I was not disappointed. There are a lot of firsts to do with this museum and a few onlys as well, like the only operating fowler steam engine of its type in the world. I have sent many photos to Brad so you are in for a treat.

Many thanks for those photos.

What a fantastic collection and well displayed, too.

Spotted a few appliances that were in my grandparents' houses when I was a kid.

The one that looks like a excercise bike is a school of the air generator, so you did not have to do P.E. lol.
