Yep.

Another short-lived radio firm called "The Duffy Radio Company" was at that address between 1933 & 1935.

QUOTE: ".. then it was a radio factory where old radios were produced ..."

I'm pretty sure that new radios would have been produced there at the time.

Great opportunity for an inner city dwelling. Reckon it will sell for quite a bit more than $3M.

Wouldn't it be funny if a wealthy radio collector shifted in there and spent his days attending to his collection.

Wealthy radio collector?

I thought you could either be wealthy or collect radios, but not both.

The main cost being space to house the collection, and risk to any human relationship in one's life.

I purchased about 20 radios in 2015. I should take photos of them and put a thread in Websites and Collections. Although, some of those radios have made it on to Receiver of the Week recently, with more to come.

Sold for $3,615,000 on Dec 5. Would have expected $4M plus, myself.

Just goes to show how much the Sydney market has slumped in recent months.

On a visit to Sydney a couple months ago I was at Redfern Station waiting for a train & it occurred to me that George St wasn't too far away. So I took the opportunity to have a squiz at number 73-75.

I couldn't really gauge the size of the building and I couldn't find any alleyways to see if there was a rear entrance. In the SMH classified ads (17/11/1932) a To Let notice describes the building as having a floor space of 7500 square feet (nearly 700 square metres). Was also trying to work out when it was built. Couldn't really determine it, but guessing 1920's.

Found this ad in the 1934 Mingays RTA.

As Google satellite view shows, it's a long narrow building. Tree cover blocks it somewhat, but there doesn't appear to be any side or rear access from Wells St or William St.

Interesting to note from that RTA ad that Duffy was one of a number of associated companies of HC Walker & Co.
