Hi Guys Smile
Yeah, we all know the state of electronics in Australia! It’s in the toilet.
This is a hobby to industry documentary with a lot of big Australian names.
I found it interesting enough, but unfortunately, if you were actually there,
there isn’t a lot to learn from it. More like it’s telling your hobby life story.

One exception for me was the section about the silicon manufacturer in Australia.
I wish every speaker had gone into a little more detail about some project they work on.

Still a good show:

Remember the first video is at the bottom of the list (Role Call).
Cheers, Brek.

I started out in a similar way to some of those blokes. As a kid I watched The Curiosity Show on Ch 9, I forget which day it was on but once a week through the ratings period I think.

One afternoon the hosts were playing around with - you guessed it - batteries and torch globes. I would have been all of eight or nine at the time and these days I am a licenced electrician. Isn't it amazing where things like this take us in life.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

QUOTE: This video was released some time ago to introduce "The State of Electronics" as a documentary. However, due to the vast amount of content already recorded, over the coming months we have decided it would be better to release sections of it as a weekly discussion. These videos will cover a huge range of subjects, from a large selection of participants recorded over a 4 year period.

I had wondered what happened to this project since the teaser video was posted some years ago (it's on here somewhere).

I hope they do decide to make it available on a set of DVDs eventually.

The 41 year old me loves it, but I know the 10-20 year old me would see it as a bunch of old guys waffling on about the good old days.
I think it missed the boat with practical examples.

The Curiosity Show was my favourite as a kid and I clearly remember some of the projects.
Some of the shows segments are also now on YouTube!
