It'd be nice to have the time to make something like that. It wouldn't have been a weekend project, that is for sure.

Completely amazing that people in the 1700's could make such things. There are other automatons and watched a documentary on how they were made and worked.

The painstaking labour in usually dimly lit and primitive workshops is something we in this age find hard to comphrehend.

Those machines were the wonder of their age.

I am surprised the logistics ever worked to bring parts together at a geolocation even before the makers assemble things like that.

That is the worst thing I envision being an Scientist or Engineer, or even tinkerer.

I know people made use of common things, but could you imagine ordering material for that?
