I have a Airzone 585, just after some information about it & what it might be worth.

I done one of these up about 12 months ago and sold it to a bloke in the Eastern suburbs in Melbourne
I got a 6 volt rechargeable battery for it about 5 amps for memory I did all the electronics plus a new dial cover as they all yellow with age I think I got only about $180 for it certainly no profit in it but I enjoyed doing it up and offering it to someone who appreciated it.

I saw one one these recently in a junk shop in Melbourne, but it was missing its front cover.

It was made in Sydney and dates from around 1938. As mentioned in the previous post it runs on 6 volts. It is a vibrator set - which does away for the need of a "B" battery. Finding a good replacement vibrator may not be that easy.

Whatever you do, do not attempt to run it on mains electricity. Otherwise sparks will fly - or much worse.

My understanding of that "Plastic" film used in those sets & camera film, is that it is a Nitro cellulose based plastic, which starts its decomposition from day one. It is the nitrous decomposition products that stain it

Ebay member, Upallnightsearching, makes replacements for the 1937 Airzone Radiostar, which should also fit this model. It may be worth confirming this with him. I've purchased a few of his dial covers now and they are top quality.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
