This is likely only significant to me, and it's Sept 14 here in the USA, but today would have been my father's 100th birthday. He was into tube radio and tube audio, back in the day when tubes was the only way to do this. He saw pretty much everything we do in these forums as current technology.

It sort of is relevant to all of us because some of the really happy memories in our childhood would have included some time with Mum or Dad in front of the old radio just listening to the serials or the news of the Day. So my hat goes off to your dad ( wishing him a happy birthday ) as it does to my dad and mum as the old radio in my bedroom comes to life nearly every night was bought by mum and dad in 1955 brand new and reminds me of the good times so long ago.
