I picked up a Philips PA Amp 987 today with matching Column Speakers and Mics and
I have NEVER seen a Dual Voltage Philips Amp before (neither has my Father)

As you can see the vibrator is behind the power transformer.
I was told it came out of a section of Holden's back in the day.
Would Love a circuit for it as its before the time they were putting circuits under the bottom.

I have one of those and it has the same grille over the top though it is only the 240V version.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

Must admit I have never seen a vibrator powered P.Amp although not really surprised.

There would have been a lot of country halls, horse race tracks where there was no mains power available.

Quite interesting to see.

Wonder how much output there was when running of the vibrator, about 3 watts ?

The appearance of that big transformer is not that different to the AC only one I have. The 6CM5 was common to many of them & some had six or more of them in PP.

Two alone in PP are capable of around 35 Watts with around 300V on the Plates.

It is like the later Philips series but with a few differences underneath.
All the Caps are mounted underneath the chassis to
keep them close to the vibrator and not quite as nicely laid out!
