According to the site logs there was a silent period of about an hour this arvo, though there was no loss of the connection so I am not sure what the problem may have been. To be honest I have been happy with how things have been this year only one short downtime, which was on the 5th January since some equipment was hastily replaced in the last week of December. I am hoping this trend continues.

I have just experienced another period where the site was unreachable. I was getting a 500 database error and http://www.websitedown.info/ reported the site was unreachable.

The dreaded 500 Error, a webmaster's worst nightmare, because in most cases it is not traceable. It doesn't even show up in Windows Server error logs. I'll have to look back through some of the fixes I did at the end of last year if it repeats.

I used this as an opportunity to do some Windows updates so at least I won't need to perform a scheduled shutdown this month. Mind you, it doesn't alter the fact that I am back to having my heart in my throat every time I visit the site at the moment. Shock
