After messing around for a while, I've finally got it all up and running, including turntable and SONOS. So now I have the best of the new and the old. All my digital music and net radio stations, plus AM on the console, plus vinyl records. It is sounding fantastic, rich and mellow, but surprisingly clean and bright. I swapped the new BSR cartridge for the old Sonotone 9T. Then loaded it up with a new diamond stylus, adjusted the tracking weight to 3.2grams and wow, the old Sonotone sounds amazing. Much better than the new cartridge. Not having many records I went and grabbed a handful from my old dad (he doesn't play them anymore). I had no idea how cool Dean Martin is! Cha Cha Cha demore - what an album! Lionel Hampton Plays Vibes, makes the hair stand up on my arms - the vibraphones sound incredible, so clear and full. Anyway, I'm raving now. Just so pleased with how good this sounds!

Of course wouldn't have happened without the help from this forum! Thanks everyone.

"Still" isn't really the right word, though yes, some time ago, a few years ago, they started stocking LPs again. Most of the content is what one might call alternative though there are some titles in the 'pop' genre.

A lot of people own the modern answer to a tablegram, those things with a turntable, CD burner/player and radio all in one. Whilst they are mainly designed to dub old collections of LPs to CDs there is plenty of scope to purchase modern LPs and simply play them on these devices, or of course, proper valve-equipped tablegrams.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
