Would someone know the model number of this Airzone radio?

Airzone Mantel Radio

The valve set is: 6J8GA, 6U7G, 6B6G, 6V6 and 5Y3. The speaker transformer is date stamped 2 April 1941. The 3 front knobs are ON/OFF, Volume and tuning and there is a 2 position tone control switch on the rear of chassis.
The 6J8 threw me, as other Airzones of similar vintage all seem to use a 6A8. The radio works well, by the way, but it may not be original.

I have seen a reference to a Malvern Star with the same cabinet and Radiomuseum refers to a Pearl, but not an Airzone, unless I am missing something.
All help is appreciated.

Harold

I find around 120 sets with that particular line-up, with brand names virtually from A to Z, but none of them are Airzone.

Looking specifically at Airzone from 1941 on, the closest I find is model 6552A:

Airzone (1941) DW Mantel, 5Y3G, 6A8G, 6U7G, 6B6G, 6F6G
Airzone (1946) DW Mantel, 5Y3G, 6A8G or 6J8G, 6U7G, 6B6G, 6F6G

From 1940 there's the model 6551A:

BC Mantel, 5Y3G, 6A8G, 6U7G, 6B6G, 6F6G/6V6G

Yep, rebadged as a Peal or Malvern Star at times.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

There is a likely explanation for 6J8 other than the fact that ECH35, 6K8, 6A8 & 6A8 often ended up in the others hole if the other was not available.

If the set is BC / SW 6J8 is the one that superseded 6A8 in SW sets, as it had a separate Triode exciter which was used as the oscillator.

Many thanks for the discussion re the alternate valve types, however I still don't know a model number for this Airzone cabinet style. The Airzone 6552A and 6551A are indeed of similar vintage and valve types, but are in the taller "theatre" shape cabinet.
Any suggestions, please?
Harold

I have not had a chance to look at the circuit, but it may pay to see if there is anything on the chassis?

My tack re circuit is that if they are different in some way with the wiring, that would be a clue.
