This entry was inspired by the avatar of one of our members.
It shows a valve being withdrawn from a valve socket on a 45 degree angle.
Each time that I see it, I cringe.

As such, I would like to post pictures of a couple of bench mountable valve pin straighteners that I have.
One is for seven pin Noval valves, and the other is for nine pin Noval valves.

My camera and the poor lighting conditions do not do justice to the pictures, especially the seven pin one.

McMurdo produced a combined seven pin/nine pin pin straightener combined with a valve puller/extractor. The puller part was made of a, light blue, soft rubber, with the pin straightener at the top. The top portion was also used as the handle when the blue rubber sleeve was placed over the hot valve, or unaccessable valve. It was shaped like an oversized thimble with a circular piece at the top.

I would like to see a picture of one as I have not seen one since 1980. I would also like to see pictures of other valve pin straighteners. Send in your pictures.

I leave it open to others to elaborate on the McMurdo company, its products, and its contribution to our trade/hobby/obsession.

Wayne.

Thanks, great to see.

(FYI: You can adjust the brightness and contrast of jpg files to correct problems like under/over exposure via various image processing applications. My camera downloading program has the capability, as do a number of other freebies I have on my PC.)

I balance the brightness, contrast and sharpness in all pictures I upload. Sometimes it works better than other times though.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
