Radio lights up, hums and the hum is adjustable by the volume switch. Any ideas how to repair this would be great.

Many thanks.

Kia Ora Nzbhoy, unplug it from the mains.
Best to start with a snapshot of the chassis & do you know the brand? Also list the valves - be very careful how you handle them as it's too easy to rub the markings off.

Please, please do not turn it on again There will be some very old capacitors with high voltage across them which may not take kindly to being used. "Firing it up" again may be a sadly literal experience!

Can you read a circuit diagram? It's always a good idea to try & get one once the make, model & valve line-up is known. There are quite a few members here who are generous with their time & resources.

Remember also, that valve radios have very dangerous voltages which can kill!

Good luck, John.
