Hi,

I got a Kriesler 11-81 and try to recap it.

Some paper caps melt and the wax is on the bottom of the case.

However, I can't find 4.7nf and 3.3nf caps in Jaycar.

Do anyone know a place in Melbourne I can walk in to buy these caps?

Thanks

Kevin

Thanks GTC.

However, when I visit the website, the front page said something about RS trade counters ceased trading.

What does it mean?

Radio Parts in Melbourne stock the items

http://www.radioparts.com.au/Category/components/capacitors.

Their address now is 562 Spencer St West Melbourne. I don't know whether they do counter sales any more but you could ring them. Decades ago I used to visit their shopfront in Elizabeth St, before anybody had heard of Dick Smith or Jaycar.

Jaycar carries a very limited range of high-voltage caps. Where sales volumes are low, the cost of stocking the item becomes too high to justify with Australian costs of labour, rent and skill.

If not in a hurry, I use http://www.futurlec.com.au/. They are based in Bangkok, very low prices and will ship small orders for $4, which is a lot better than most Australian trade suppliers.

Jaycar calls them 4700pF, it's just a matter of whether or not 50 Volts is a high enough rating.

Thanks Maven.

I checked the site, unfortunately they do not have high voltage 0.0022μF and 0.0047μF ones.

I know 4700pf = 4.7nf = 0.0047μF. I need high voltage ones for the valve radio.

It seems no one carry them these days.

What does it mean?

The notice is pretty clear. I have bolded the salient part:

"Please be aware that RS Trade Counters will cease trading on Saturdays as of 1st June 2014."

I guess the Saturday trade was insufficient to justify rostering a shift. However, RS offers free delivery.

Thanks Airzone.

That's the place I am looking for. It's a pity I can't find a local shop.

RS Components at Sunshine West should have them. Did you check their catalogue?

Thanks to everyone for your help. Really appreciate it.

I have ordered from the Evatco and hopefully got it soon.

Thanks GTC. I did checked their catalogue. I don't like to buy everything in batch so I skip them.
