Seller is asking $4,250 for this. I find the design cheap and ugly, but I guess he thinks somebody will love it:

And gotta love that piece of asbestos tacked to the top of the case.

You do see them in the art deco radio books and I do find the design pleasing being a very big fan of deco myself, but I personally couldn't justify the price.

I've seen one of those offered for something like $25,000.00 toward the end of last year. Yes it does have a love-hate design and personally not one that I would like in my collection, although in a collection of anything retro it may look good.

Asbestos should be removed from radios and disposed of - under appropriate conditions. If heat is a concern then some fibreglass matting similar to that used in fire blankets will probably suffice.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...

I'm quite fond of Art Deco style, but only well designed and crafted stuff, not a board tacked onto a box like this effort.

I have seen a later reproduction of this radio that was a lot more appealing (to me anyway)

It may be a rare radio, however it is butt ugly.

This reminds me of one of those modern wall clocks you can buy - with a flat round glass panel and a small 1.5v quartz clock mechanism stuck to the back!

Yes, it is a bit like a quartz clock.

On closer inspection I see that it's glass not a board. However, still not impressed.
