Ian Ross, a former Channel 7 news anchor man and Channel 9 news reader and reporter has died at the age of 73 as reported here.

Known to viewers and colleagues as Roscoe, Ian was one of the Nation's most popular news presenters.

Gee, I didn't even know he was ill, and I would not have guessed his age as 73 either. Just goes to show how much TV I don't watch any more.

May he rest in peace.

I didn't realise either but it sounded like he wanted it kept quiet and just wanted to go with some dignity. It's a shame it was diagnosed too late though. Sometimes there is a good chance of recovery if the cancer is found before it reaches the liver. The trouble there is that the victim can feel completely normal beforehand.

He was probably my preferred news reader.

This cancer took my grandfather at a similar age. Generally only found as part of an investigation into something else.

It seems to be becoming more commonplace. Either that or it may just be that more cases of it are being reported.

Mine too, come to think of it. No drama, just tell it straight.
