Hi,
I have just purchased a console radio that I will restore. Firstly I need to identify it to see if there is any circuit information for it. It has a large round tuning dial with a surround with the word "Victor" on it. The rear of the chassis has two labels attached, one states that it is a Victor radio, model number 6CD with a serial number, and W. H. Paling and Co. The other label is a high voltage warning. I have found that the Paling company used to sell Victor pianos and also radios but I don't know if they were made locally or imported. I also don't know if this "Victor" brand is associated with the "RCA Victor" name. Internet searches have not revealed much information. Does anyone know any history of these "Victor" radios sold by W. H. Paling & Co.? I would estimate that this radio is from the 1930's.
Thanks.

It might be an Airzone chassis.

It would help to let us know the valve line-up. Be careful to remove valves by their bases, not by the glass envelopes, and be careful removing connectors from valve top caps as the caps can easily come off.

Thanks GTC,
The 6 valve line up is, as marked on the chassis, "80"-Mullard 11 fitted, "42"-Miniwatt 9L fitted, "75"-Mullard M62 fitted, "6D6"-6D6 fitted, an EK2 and a 95 (A)? fitted. The last two have no visible labelling on the chassis as to their intended valves. My research has shown that this receiver is very similar to a "Bland" model radio chassis as made in Adelaide. The IF cans are identical, and all the chassis metalwork is painted the same metallic light blue colour. This looks to be a very well made radio (ARTS&P label indicates made in1937) and seems to be made specifically for or by Palings as the valve shields all have metal caps on them which are stamped Paling. The centre of the dual band tuning dial has an intertwined V and P logo, which I would assume refers to Victor and Paling.

Three chassis from 1937 with that original line-up:

Aristocrat 516S (dual wave)
Genalex 460C (broadcast only)
Tasma 460 (broadcast only)
