Sacrilege! At least the chassis is still there but a good speaker is arguably one of the most valuable parts.

A crack free white case with original knobs and good dial would be worth far more than what's been done to this one but still nowhere near the starting price. I think I need to go for a lie down now...

Puts a new twist on the too familiar "I plugged it in and it lights up".

Brought back to life, LOL!

Might be worth sending a message to the seller asking him what he did with the speaker.

If that cabinet has absolutely no cracks at all then it may be worth that amount if it is to be resurrected as a radio. White and cream AWA cabinets of this era develop cracks at the top due to the heat from the valves almost without exception so a good case will be worth something.

Otherwise I think the seller is wasting his time and he should lose the lamp, reinstall any radio components that have been removed and sell the unit as a radio.

His description of the modifications seem a bit iffy too, in an electrical safety sense. Incandescent lamps are only 8% efficient which means around 23 watts of the energy consumption of a 25 watt lamp is being given off as heat.

A valve a day keeps the transistor away...
