"Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) will both become obsolete as time standards as the world's prime meridian is to move from its long standing home in Greenwich, London (U.K.) to Paris (France). The change will take place at midnight between June 30 and July 1, 2014, the International Timekeeping Committee (ITC) announced in a press release this morning."

That would be a nightmare for every existing mapping GPS and much other software out there!

IIRC, some years ago it was announced on April 1 that we will shift to decimal time.

This forum software has an April Fools Day feature that allows someone to post a comment and then all replies can only be seen by the person posting until midday when they automatically become shown in normal mode. I got the idea off the Whirlpool Internet forums though I have never used it because most of us are usually here at night and my April Fools Day jokes can be quite un-nerving.

Maybe next year can be the first year for this. To clarify, midday would strike at the site's official eastern daylight savings time (GMT + 11 hours). Wink

EA did the metric time article in 1974, Silicon chip did it too, I just cant remember when. They even published a kit for a metric clock.
