Hi Guys,
Is it true that there are only 49 types of Philips Miniwatt tubes in subminiature form?

I was lucky to borrow the Miniwatt Electronics Handbook I (1965),
and it's list of 49 valves does cover every type I have seen in AM radio.
Out of that list, there are only five types that are not prefixed with a "6",
including the 12AX7 & 12AU7.

Or is there another handbook out there with more types?

If the book happens to be rare, and anyone wants some copies
out of it, now would be the time to speak up!
Cheers, Brek.

There is the locally produced Miniwatt Technical Data Book. This has considerably more valve types than the book shown on the link. It also has data for Picture Tubes and a few a diode and transistor types as well.
The Miniwatt Technical Data Book is available freely on-line. I'll send the link when I get home tonight.

Ah cool! It might end up that I get to keep this one, but it's not a given.
It was hard to miss if you've ever seen a genuine Miniwatt valve box! Grin

These were high quality, I would mine old TVs & radios for their audio types (12AU7, 12AX7, 6BM8, 6BQ5...) and stick in less valuable brands in their place.

Philips originally developed the highly popular (with audiophiles) 6BQ5.

6BM8's now have a cult audiophile status and are hard to find being only employed widely in Australian TVs for some reason!

I had to go check if I had 6BM8, but no joy!

EDIT,,, whoops! I have got one, but it's AWA Radiotron,
can I still get rich off it? Grin

I guess since the data is available the book is only a keepsake then,
but that does make it more likely I'll be able to keep it Smile

I've heard AWV mfg actually used RCA assembly line equip - therefore equivalent to RCA which are liked - especially the professional numbered series: 7025, 5879, 7199,(pre-amp) and 6550, 7868, 6973, 7027 (pwr-amp)

Some early Amer & Japn hi fi Amps used 6BM8s

You can find the desirable Mullard 6BM8s in old Aust BUSH TVs that always used imported Mullards!

Mullard may have been owned by Philips by then so they may be really rebranded Miniwatts?

I got a big bunch of Philips' 6DJ8s out of an early HP oscilloscope, they are branded 'Hewlett Packard' / 'Amperex' (Miniwatt) 'made in Holland'. I hear they use these in High End phono pre-amps.
