Hi everyone,
I thought this might be of interest to some members here.
The National Library of Australia (NLA) has a fairly new website called 'Trove' which is an indexed digitised online catalogue of most Australian newspapers and magazines ranging from the late 1800's until the 1980's.
I typed in the model of my HMV TV and HMV console radio in the search and discovered lots of original advertisements from the day.
Visit http://trove.nla.gov.au/.
You can download PDF or JPEG copies of items that you find. It's amazing how much time and effort is spent digitising these old newspapers.
Trove is a great website for research if you have a passion for preserving Australian history as I do.
Cheers!

Thanks, quite interesting.
I found some pics of the Airzone factory,
and a radio shop in my home town from 1951 that I knew nothing about
until the next company (SEQEB) took over the biulding.

Yep, we refer to the Trove site fairly often. The display ads (when found) are particularly useful for identifying radios and radiograms.

The ads are particularly useful for identifying models later than 1956 when the AORSM ceased publication, and they also confirm the original appearance of models that might have undergone some trauma over their lifetime. (I wouldn't mind looking like my own photographs from 1960 either.)

Silly question, can you full-page the search result, I couldn't. Might be my browser.

Hi NewVista,
Did you mean viewing the full page of a single search result?
If you click on a search result, the newspaper image should appear on the screen. If you click in the top right hand corner of the image where it says 'View Entire Page', then this will bring up a view of the full page. You can then download the entire newspaper or that single page as a PDF. I find that viewing the entire page first allows you to save a higher reolution image. For printing on A4, I find the resolution is pretty good.
Cheers!

Meant to say I wanted to 'full screen' image window. Would be nice if it could be done.
